MPOA Purpose & Focus

Purpose

The MPOA is the umbrella association representing the common interests of all property owners in The Moorings. The MPOA represents over 1,150 residential owners consisting of approximately 810 multi-family and 340 single-family residences.

Focus

The MPOA's primary focus is the on-going maintenance and improvement of the infrastructure and appearance of the common areas within The Moorings, as well as actions to enhance the safety of members and their properties such as:

  • Maintenance of landscaping (including irrigation) of The Moorings common grounds, including over 750 trees, grass and planting areas on 18 center islands and seven roadways.
  • Provision of security services on a 24 hours a day seven days per week basis.
  • Management and maintenance of the MPOA's three-acre beach property, with its Tiki Huts, picnic tables, barbecue grills and gopher tortoise habitat.
  • Publication, updating and enforcement of the "Guidelines for Living in The Moorings".

  • Publication, updating and enforcement of the "Guidelines for Living in The Moorings".
  • Provision of a community website at www.mooringspoavero.com as a one-stop central source of relevant Moorings information.
  • Publication and update on an annual basis of the "MPOA Members' Handbook & Directory listing each member's name, address, phone number and e-mail address.
  • Provision to members via e-mail notifications and newsletters of items of interest within The Moorings community.
  • Maintenance of over 75 signs and approximately 128 streetlights within The Moorings.
  • Sponsoring and organization of multiple social events to help promote and enhance the on-going sense of community within The Moorings.
  • Administration and monitoring of the MPOA's $306,000 annual budget which is funded entirely by MPOA membership dues and security services fees.
  • Shares the expense of maintaining waterway channels and navigation aids around The Moorings waterways containing over 500 docks and slips.
  • Coordination and communication on an on-going basis with both city and county government officials and agencies as to areas of concern to The Moorings.
  • Sharing in the expense of maintaining The Moorings waterway channel and attendant navigation aids.
  • Maintenance of a productive working partnership with The Moorings Yacht & Country Club to which a majority of MPOA members belong.
